Because we understand that different methods work for different people, Our goal for each Shift retreat is to expose participants to a variety of transformational + holistic healing modalities that they can continually utilize after their time with us. detailed below are a handful of the modalities that we integrate into our curriculum.
The Shift Retreat’s curriculum is anchored around a series of group coaching conversations, developed and led by acclaimed Transformational Coach, speaker, columnist and bestselling author, Brandilyn Tebo. During these sessions, Brandilyn distinguishes concepts and frameworks designed to make life-changing, new perspectives available for each participant. These empowering, eye-opening conversations are inspired by Brandilyn’s studies in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, landmark, The Work of Byron Katie, Authentic Relating, Somatic Healing and Eastern Philosophies. The themes of the conversations are:
Learning how to be more willing to feel everything fully and thereby reduce suffering
Uncovering the source of our need to escape, numb and avoid through coping mechanisms such as perfectionism, workaholism, excessive alcohol and drug use, relentless busy-ness, over or under eating, etc.
Becoming aware of and learning how to transform beliefs that are standing in the way of our ability to produce the results we would love to have in our relationships, careers, health, self-image, fulfillment and quality of life.
Developing the skills to identify, question and release disempowering thoughts.
learning how to have the kinds of conversations that radically improve the capacity for connection, fun, intimacy, contribution and love in each of our relationships
Kundalini yoga is known as the “Yoga of Awareness,” expanding our sense of self and how we interact with the world around us. The practice involves physical postures, breath work, movement, stretching, meditation, mantra, and relaxation; all done with our eyes closed. Kundalini is one tool for greater self discovery in which you can find personal meaning through your own experience. We create a balance and connection to our mind, body, and spirit.
Benefits from the practice include: strengthening the nervous system, activating glandular system, increasing flexibility, expanding lung capacity, purifying the bloodstream, and providing a sense of peace through meditation and reflection.
This practice is open to all regardless of age and experience.
During the retreat, we take participants through an immersive experience in which they lie down with an eye mask covering their eyes and engage in a particular technique of deep, fast breathing for one hour. This therapeutic breathing is intended to help with emotional healing and personal growth. This style of breath helps us access the emotional body, and creates a safe space in which the energy of unresolved issues can be processed. To do so, participants are encouraged to allow any internal experience to be as big as it wants to be and make any noise or movements that they feel called to. Participants typically describe the Breathwork session as an incredibly liberating experience.
Cacao—raw, unprocessed chocolate—is a true superfood, containing more antioxidants than blueberries, in addition to lots of iron, calcium, and magnesium. Cacao contains theobromine, an alkaloid that is thought to boost mood and energy. Cacao can open the heart and allow you to connect with yourself and others in a deeper, more loving way. Cacao ceremonies are helpful for getting clarity, setting intentions, and doing healing work & inner-processing. Cacao enables you to connect with your inner spirit and wisdom.
In our cacao ceremony, we provide you with a ceremonial dose of cacao and a safe, nourishing environment for you to connect with yourself and the spirit of cacao. As a group we will bless our cacao, sing and dance together, and be guided through various healing guided meditations.

Inner Child Work
We all metaphorically have an inner child dwelling within us. Our inner child represents our child-like innocence, wonder, awe, joy, sensitivity and playfulness, and it also contains our accumulated childhood hurts, insecurities, traumas, disappointments and fears. Most of us have been taught that in order to be a successful adult, we have to suppress our inner child, the repression of which leads to many behavioral, emotional and relationship difficulties.
“The fact is that the majority of so-called adults are not truly adults at all. We all get older. Anyone, with a little luck, can do that. But, psychologically speaking, this is not adulthood. True adulthood hinges on acknowledging, accepting, and taking responsibility for loving and parenting one's own inner child. For most adults, this never happens. Instead, their inner child has been denied, neglected, disparaged, abandoned or rejected. We are told by society to ‘grow up,’ putting childish things aside.
In fact, these so-called grown-ups or adults are unwittingly being constantly influenced or covertly controlled by this unconscious inner child. For many, it is not an adult self directing their lives, but rather an emotionally wounded inner child inhabiting an adult body. A five-year-old running around in a forty-year-old frame. It is a hurt, angry, fearful little boy or girl calling the shots, making adult decisions.” - Dr. Stephen Diamond, Ph.D.
In The Shift, we help each participant make conscious contact with his or her inner child, establishing direct communication so that they can better understand and meet what their inner child wants and needs. When our inner child is integrated into our being, we become more self-expressed, fulfilled and at peace.

Nonviolence in thought and action is one of the core values of The Shift. We believe that self-consciousness is a result of our awareness being fixated on ourselves, and that the antidote to self-consciousness is becoming aware of our impact on the world. Because of this, and because we believe in being the change we wish to see in the world, all nourishment that we provide is 100% plant-based. this gives participants an opportunity to practice eating in a way that does not harm any living animal, and is gentle on the environment and our own bodies. Additionally, whole, plant-based foods are detoxifying and fortify our bodies and minds with the micro-nutrients necessary to do deep inner-work and processing. At each Shift retreat, we have a plant-based chef and dietitian that has a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and can answer participants’ questions about how to lead healthier lives.
